TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

"For me, it is not about becoming the best teacher you could imagine for yourself according to your own experiences, but about becoming the kind of instructor that every student needs at that point of their learning processes."

After over ten years of practice as an instructor, both in music academies and in colleges, Mar understands the role of the private instructor as a mentor, able to support the student’s learning process adapting to the class requirements and the necessities and interests of every learner.
A good mentor should also be very empathic, organized, and proficient, and provide ordered and practical guidance, work materials, and demonstrations in both technique and stylistic approaches.
This is the kind of instructor that every learner deserves in order to learn efficiently and receive the correct amount of support and motivation she or he needs to succeed, according to Mar Fayos.

Mar currently teaches voice lessons and ensembles as a Full-time Assistant Professor at the Berklee College of Music, where she also works as a faculty in admissions, and as an Adjunct Faculty at the Bunker Hill Community College. In addition, she offers private voice lessons and both academic and career counseling for musicians through her studio online.
